Professional Skills & Careers Manager

As TIAH’s Professional Skills & Careers Manager, Sonia leads the development of TIAH’s professional framework, associated competencies and career pathways. She is also responsible for the Institute’s apprenticeship and careers offer, registrar duties.

Prior to joining TIAH, Sonia spent six years in member services and business development with the Chartered Institute of Library & Information Professionals (CILIP), a professional membership body for librarians, information managers, knowledge managers and data specialists.

Sonia’s focus was on cementing the Institute as the professional home for Knowledge Management (KM) professionals. This involved working with practitioners at all levels and employers to ensure an attractive and meaningful offer reflecting their career aspirations and development needs. Sonia also worked with CILIP’s internal teams to ensure that delivering value to KM members was at the heart of all the Institute’s activities.

Sonia led CILIP’s development of professional registration, Chartership and Fellowship, for KM professionals. She was also involved in a major review of the Institute’s professional registration processes, working with internal and external stakeholders to implement change in this area.

Sonia also contributed to a significant review of CILIP’s sector skills framework, working alongside academics, employers and practitioners to ensure a future forward foundation for learning and skills development for the profession. She has worked in partnership on long term digital skills strategies for the Health and Care sector. She also has experience of supporting apprentices both during their apprenticeship and for their onward careers.

Outside of work, Sonia enjoys travelling; loves reading and kdramas; and supports the governance of her local swim club, ensuring that it achieves SwimMark status and offers a safe and happy home for competitive swimmers.
