Young people benefit greatly from first-hand experience when making decisions about their future.

The very act of seeking and undergoing work experience will provide them with a range of transferable skills.

Additionally, work experience can help young people as:

  • It provides young people with a greater understanding of the 'world of work'
  • Helps to develop the employability skills which are required in work
  • They get to work with other employees as part of a team and see the jobs people do
  • It can help to challenge stereotypes of the industry
  • Increases their chances of being recruited in the future
  • They can become familiar with the industry and what goes on

Many people take on work experience placements now knowing exactly what to expect, and it's very common to hear how these initial in-work learning opportunities shape their future careers.

By offering work experience placements, you can help motivate and inspire young people to get started in agriculture and horticulture.
