Who should I contact to set up a placement?

After calculating the duties and duration of a placement, you are now in a position to take the next step and organise the work experience.

This depends on the type of experience you wish to offer. If you think you are well placed to offer two-week placements to a 14–18-year-old, then you are best to approach local schools. However, not all schools offer ’work experience fortnight’ as it's no longer a statutory requirement. That said, many schools do, and there's likely to be one local to you, so do keep trying if your first efforts don't come to fruition.

If you think a longer-term placement with an older student would be possible for your business, then you should enquire at your local sixth form colleges or other centres of further/higher education.
