About the webinar host: Martin Collison
Martin has been an agrifood consultant since 2000, an academic since 1987 and is a visiting professor in agri-food systems at Lincoln Institute for Agri-Food Technology. He has also been a partner/company director of farming, consultancy, import and export businesses.
Martin helped develop the UK Strategy for Agricultural Technologies and was on evaluation teams reviewing the AgTech Catalyst, Transforming Food Production, Farming Innovation, Biomass Feedstock Innovation and Defra small grant programmes.
He has also worked on reviews for the EU Commission of the European Innovation Partnership for Agriculture (EIP Agri), short food chains, water and agriculture, food exports and the EU Code of Conduct for the Food Chain. Martin wrote two successful bids for H2020 projects in the livestock sector: 4D4F focused on use of digital tools to improve animal husbandry; DISARM focused on antibiotic reduction.

Thomas leads the outreach and engagement for the ADOPT Support Hub under the UK’s Farming Innovation Programme.
Committed to bridging the gap between emerging agricultural practices and practical, on-farm application, ADOPT helps farmers across England trial, adopt and share solutions that drive productivity and sustainability.
He was also co-author of the UK Agri-Tech Centre’s report Innovation and Technology: The Farmers’ Perspective, which explores how farmers are engaging with agri-tech and the barriers and opportunities they face.
Thomas is particularly focused on supporting farmer-led research and fostering peer-to-peer knowledge exchange to enable more effective adoption of innovation across the sector.
