First five-year plan launched for TIAH

We've published our first Strategic Plan for TIAH, setting out the route to achieving our ambitions over the coming five years.

The plan for 2021-2026 was launched on 14 September at a meeting of the TIAH convened industry Consultation Group.

TIAH’s strategy is built around five key goals:

  • Achieving recognition of the industry’s professional standards and abilities
  • The delivery of a professional framework that informs the development of qualifications and lifelong learning
  • TIAH becoming recognised as a source of information on careers and progression opportunities
  • The delivery of a professional institute that helps transform the industry
  • Fully establishing a business model that ensures TIAH’s sustainability

Welcoming TIAH’s progress, Farming Minister Victoria Prentis said: “I've been following the development of TIAH very keenly, and I'm pleased with the progress it's making. As the Government rolls out the Agricultural Transition Plan, this new institute will play an important role in supporting the industry to adapt to these changes, ensuring that its people and businesses get the maximum benefit from our new agricultural policy.”

 

Strategic plan outlines need for collaboration

Introducing the plan, TIAH Chair David Fursdon said: “Our first strategic plan sets out our journey over the coming five years as we aspire to grow from a newly established entity to become recognised by those in agriculture and horticulture and the wider public as the industry’s home of skills, careers, and professionalism. TIAH, working closely with its partners, will help individuals to fulfil their true potential.”

TIAH’s development is gathering pace as it works towards the official launch of its first services in early 2022. This has been made possible by Defra’s ongoing commitment and support, with TIAH’s crucial role recognised in its Agricultural Transition Plan.

TIAH Chief Executive Janet Swadling added: “We are very excited to have launched our first strategic plan, but none of the outcomes we've set out to achieve will be possible without close collaboration with those in the industry and Government. We'll continue to engage in meaningful discussion with our partners to ensure that TIAH is credible and trusted as it addresses the industry’s shifting needs and can support long-term, sustainable change.”
