Our statement on the Independent Review into Labour Shortages
TIAH’s Chair David Fursdon said: “The panel’s report comes at a critical time for agriculture and horticulture, and the wider food and drink sector, as businesses experience ever-increasing pressure to attract and retain employees in the right numbers and with the right skills.
“The recommendations present an opportunity for industry to inform and guide policymakers on the best approaches to tackling the labour crisis. At the same time, success relies on close collaboration across industry, government and education to ensure there's a fully joined-up approach.
“We're pleased the panel has recognised TIAH’s key role and we're committed to building upon our existing work to support collaborative action on workforce retention and recruitment, skills development and the adoption of new technologies.”
While the industry and government will need time to fully digest and discuss the panel’s recommendations before detailed actions are agreed, we believe TIAH is well placed to provide support in a range of areas.
