Waste walk spreadsheet

Having completed a waste walk and outlined a process map, the next step is to log your findings using this waste walk spreadsheet.
To start this, you should copy the individual tasks involved in any job into individual rows of this spreadsheet.
Tasks should have their duration, distance, and an approximation of their frequency measured, and they should also be assessed as to whether they are a 'Value aid' or a 'Non-value aid'.
With this information entered, the spreadsheet will automatically calculate criteria for assessing the total time spent on any task in a typical day and the proportion of the whole job's time spent on each task. With this calculated, you can easily identify the tasks that take up the most time in any job and then note why that is.
You are also able to reorder the tasks according to the amount of time they take. Doing this allows you to consider what improvements could be made to reduce the time they take - and these smaller gains can add up to significant improvements over time.
