Aims

This online refresher course aims to help you: 

  • List the top causes of fatal accidents in agriculture over the past year 
  • Identify situations in which incidents can occur on farms and describe actions to prevent, control or reduce the risks for these situations 
  • Understand and be able to apply a basic risk assessment to a number of scenarios presented 
  • Explain control measures for a range of hazards and understand which of these measures is the most and least effective 
  • Give examples of sources of information and good practices relating to health and safety on farms 
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of good farm safety practices

Overview

This health and safety refresher course is based on recent real-life incidents as reported by the Health and Safety Executive.

By learning from these case studies, you can identify potential risks, implement safer practices and prevent similar accidents from occurring in your workplace. 

This course has been designed for anyone working in agriculture/horticulture who already has a basic understanding of the risks involved in the industry. It's particularly suitable for those who have completed the Foundations in farm safety and Farming with safety in mind learning paths.
