The session, titled “Future Skills”, provided a comprehensive overview of the current and emerging skills gaps in the agricultural sector.

Based on our latest research, Tess highlighted the rising significance of technical and soft skills in business management. She stressed adaptability as a key competitive advantage and proposed a three-step development process: understanding reality, adjusting mindset, and adopting new work methods. As the industry evolves, it increasingly recognises these interpersonal abilities' value.

To effectively navigate these changes, Tess identified three essential skills to master: self-awareness, creativity, and resilience. Tess said, “By honing these capabilities, people will be better equipped to lead the industry forward and overcome the challenges of a dynamic agricultural landscape.”

Over the next few months, we’re looking forward to updating you on our progress in this area. Keep an eye out for Tess, who will be presenting some of our work at the IAGRM Lecturers’ Conference 2023.
