Whether you're a small-scale grower or managing a larger operation, understanding how to adopt the right technologies and make them work for your business is more important than ever.

And this is why we developed our new online course, Embracing agri-tech: From evaluation to adoption, in partnership with the UK Agri-Tech Centre.

The new six-module Learning Path is designed to help you make informed decisions at every stage of the agri-tech journey.

Helen Brookes, Engagement Director at the UK Agri-Tech Centre, said: “We are delighted to work in collaboration with TIAH on this vital Learning Path to enable farmers and industry experts to better identify the right agri-tech choice for their business.

“Through our agri-tech innovation and adoption, using world-class facilities, expert knowledge and business support, we can illustrate how businesses can improve resource efficiency, productivity and sustainability across sectors.”

From understanding the types of technology available to measuring their impact on your business, this course provides practical guidance, case studies, templates and tools tailored to real-world farming and growing.

Through these six modules, you learn how about:

  • Different types of agri-tech and their potential uses
  • How agri-tech can improve efficiency and productivity
  • What to consider when shortlisting solutions for your business
  • How to integrate and implement new digital technology successfully
  • Common challenges and how to manage the risks
  • How to assess return on investment (ROI) to make considered decisions

Each of these bite-sized modules take about 15 minutes to complete, making it easy for you to quickly progress through the whole Learning Path.

What are the benefits for farmers and growers?

By taking this online Learning Path, farmers and growers will:

  • Gain practical skills to identify and adopt the right agri-tech for their specific business needs, whether that’s costly advanced robotics or affordable tools such as RFID tags or weather sensors
  • Understand how to streamline operations, reduce costs, and improve product quality in order to improve efficiency, productivity and profitability
  • Gain confidence to overcome barriers to adoption, whether they be cost, lack of training, or risk aversion, with support from real-world case studies and practical tools

What’s more, TIAH members who start this course can also:

  • Save their progress through each module, helping them fit it in around their busy schedule
  • Receive CPD points and a certificate on completion of the Learning Path, both of which are automatically saved in a secure Learning Record
  • Use their Learning Record to quickly evidence their professionalism and compliance during audits, grant applications, or when applying for a new role
  • Receive more support for career development and access a library of hundreds of online learning resources specifically curated for farmers and growers
  • Access a professional community and ongoing support, with further learning, advice and the latest agri-tech insights from the UK Agri-Tech Centre
  • Help yourself bring new tech into your business with the ADOPT Fund

The Accelerating Development of Practices and Technologies (ADOPT) Fund, launched in April 2025, plays a crucial role in supporting farmer-led on-farm trials of new technologies and methods.

With a focus on addressing real-world farming challenges, ADOPT-funded projects will drive productivity improvements while delivering environmental benefits. The programme further aims to bolster the agricultural sector’s resilience in response to escalating global food security concerns.

Farmers can also use ADOPT funding to pay for TIAH membership, which provides ongoing access to a wealth of learning resources. These resources are essential for successful on-farm trials and innovation uptake, ensuring farmers can continue to develop their skills beyond the trial phase. This long-term support is a key factor in the sustainability of agri-tech adoption.

We are delighted to work in collaboration with TIAH on this vital Learning Path to enable farmers and industry experts to better identify the right agri-tech choice for their business.
