He will join TIAH on 19 June from his role as Chief Executive of BASIS Registration Ltd, a registered charity and designated Awarding Body that supports people and businesses with qualifications, professional registers, and auditing schemes.
Stephen will succeed TIAH’s current Chief Executive, Janet Swadling OBE. Janet will remain on TIAH’s Board.
TIAH Chair David Fursdon said: “Stephen brings to TIAH deep knowledge and experience of the agriculture and horticulture industry gained at both leadership and practical levels.
Chief Executive has a clear commitment to the industry
"He understands the complexities and opportunities facing farmers and growers and has a clear commitment to the fundamental role that skills development plays in the success of individual businesses and the industry as a whole. We are very excited that he's joining TIAH, and we look forward to working with him at this pivotal time.
“I would also like to thank outgoing Chief Executive Janet Swadling for her commitment to TIAH – we're very pleased that we'll continue to benefit from her knowledge as she remains on TIAH’s Board.”
Stephen said: “I'm absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to join the TIAH team at a time when it’s gathering real momentum. I look forward to using my extensive experience and knowledge in leading a successful membership organisation to deliver the ambitions of what will be our home of skills, careers, and professionalism for agriculture and horticulture.”
Stephen joined BASIS in 2011 following a career in practical farm management, agricultural business consultancy, and seed production. He became BASIS Chief Executive in 2016. He currently sits on the Boards of BASIS RAMPS Ltd. and RoSa Registration Ltd. In 2020, he was awarded an Associateship of the Royal Agricultural Societies of England (ARAgS) for distinguished achievement in agriculture and related land-based industries.
