The Institute for Agriculture and Horticulture (TIAH) is delighted to announce the appointment of Matt Naylor as the new Chair of its Board, marking a significant step forward in TIAH’s mission to champion skills, professionalism, and innovation across UK farming and growing.

Matt brings a wealth of experience and a dynamic vision to the role. As the founder and Chair of Naylor Flowers, Matt has grown his business into one of the UK’s leading flower producers by empowering people and embracing change.

His leadership extends beyond business; he is also co-managing director of Socius, a labour agency, and has been a driving force in promoting best practice and inclusivity in agriculture.

I’m keen to help UK farmers equip themselves with the skills to determine their own futures and to champion best practice in the farming industry.

He said: “I’m keen to help UK farmers equip themselves with the skills to determine their own futures and to champion best practice in the farming industry.”

Matt’s career is distinguished by a deep commitment to education and outreach. He works with the Country Trust to host school visits on his own farm, supports Open Farm Sunday, and is a proud tenant of the Crown Estate, which sponsored his Nuffield Scholarship in 2006.

He said: “Matt’s track record as a business leader, innovator and advocate for professional development makes him the ideal person to guide TIAH at this pivotal time. His vision aligns perfectly with our mission to support the sector in meeting the skills challenges of the future.”

Matt’s appointment comes as TIAH was named in the UK Government’s Advanced Manufacturing Sector Plan, recognising our vital role in building a digitally literate, skilled and inclusive workforce for the future of agri-tech and advanced manufacturing.

TIAH looks forward to benefiting from Matt’s leadership as the organisation continues to support farmers and growers as they develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to thrive in a rapidly changing industry.
