New course on importance of farming and growing sector available
TIAH has launched Farming Matters, a new online course in partnership with the Agricultural Universities Council UK (AUC), aiming to support learners at the very start of their agricultural careers.
Hosted on the TIAH Learning Hub, these short modules introduce essential themes, ranging from food security and rural economies to sustainable practices, technological innovation and the environmental and political context of farming.
Developed with AUC’s Teaching and Learning Group, the new short course responds to feedback from students and educators who called for clearer resources on why agriculture matters and how it underpins daily life.
Farming Matters is designed to address the gap for early-stage learners and provide everyone entering the sector with industry-backed facts and practical guidance. Labour shortages continue to impact the industry and equipping students with reliable knowledge is vital for building a strong, confident workforce.
The course is made up of six modules, complete with videos, interactive elements, audio and written content.
Students are eligible for free TIAH membership, giving them access to the Learning Hub where they can complete the course and earn a certificate of achievement, showcasing their professional growth and dedication to ongoing learning.
